Trey Taylor is the Managing Director of Threadneedle, the Taylor Family Office, Chief Executive Officer of Taylor Insurance Services, Managing Director of trinity | blue consulting and Founding Partner of Ascend Partners.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Emory University in Atlanta, a Juris Doctor degree in Tax and Corporate Transactions from Tulane University School of Law in New Orleans, and has completed additional coursework at St Peter’s College, Oxford University in the UK, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Passionate about business combinations and the growth created by strategic synergy, Trey has participated in  more than 100 M&A transactions.  Beginning his career at WebMD, Trey oversaw M&A efforts that formed the platform for the company’s eventual merger and public listing with Healtheon when the company went on to acquire 40+ companies in the following 12 months.  Leaving WebMD for Venture Capital, Trey joined an Atlanta based seed fund and incubator with 11 portfolio companies, all of which reached successful exit.  Since that time, he has invested in more than 100 startups as a strategic angel advisor, in addition to advising venture funds in their formation and deployment of capital into new portfolio companies.  A sophisticated real estate investor, as well, Trey has formed and advised several profitable real estate syndicates focused on the multifamily and storage spaces.

In 2020, Trey published A CEO Only Does Three Things, a handbook for CEOs designed primarily for portfolio company CEOs seeking to find focus and balance in the C-Suite.  Since that publication, he has appeared on 60+ podcasts and been featured in publications like INC., Entrepreneur, SHRM and others.  He speaks frequently as a keynote speaker challenging audiences to be more intentional, find more focus and get the right things done.

In his private time, Trey is a WSET certified sommelier and a recent private pilot with a Cirrus SR22T.  He and his wife, Sheya, are the proud parents of Ret, Emmaline and Mary-Salter.  They make their home in South Georgia, and travel frequently for work and pleasure.
